Marine Electrical Consulting Ltd began operations in 2008 in direct response to growing demand from clients for high quality, cost effective marine and offshore electrical engineering consultancy services.

Staffed by professionals with over 20 years direct experience in design and delivery of complex marine and offshore electrical power and automation projects, MEC has ready access to a vast knowledge base and a wealth of experience and expertise. This covers all fields of marine and offshore electrical power, electronic and automation engineering which puts us in a unique position in the market, enabling us to deliver world class marine consultancy services to our clients.

New build ROV, Trenching & Offshore Construction Vessels
Since 2006, we have been contracted by our client to oversee the design, construction, delivery into service and initial project mobilization of two offshore construction vessels.

Our role has included assisting the ship designers in the development of the specification for the 'basic' ship and detailed development of specification and design of the vessel to equipment interface in respect of electrical power, data, communications, surveillance and IT.

We have also advised on the specification, design and integration of all of the vessel's offshore construction equipment including pipelay systems, very high power subsea trenching vehicles (>2.5MW), Workclass and OBS ROVs.

The same client has retained our consultancy services now for over 10 years and we continue to provide them with regular support for their project based and asset construction activities.
   
   

Newbuild 130m Mega Yacht
We are pleased to announce that we have recently been awarded a prestigious contract to represent the owner as the lead electrical engineering consultants for the construction of what will become one of the world's largest and most luxurious private yachts when it is delivered in 2013.

The vessel will have diesel electric medium voltage power generation and propulsion, dynamic positioning and a host of state of the art equipment.

In order to maintain our client's strict confidentiality we cannot provide specific details of this project, however we are responsible for overseeing the specification, design, installation and commissioning of all of the vessel's primary electrical systems and also owner's supply packages including Audio Visual, IT, Communications, Entertainment, Lighting & Water Toys.
   
   

Major Automation Upgrade on 41700Tonne/2400 Passenger RoPax
Plagued by continuing automation problems since the vessel was delivered from the building yard in mid 2000, the owners have contracted us to deliver a major system upgrade.


With almost 9,000 I/O and 12 Operator Stations this is a very large and complex project and must be implemented within a very tight schedule and with minimum disruption to the vessel operation.

We are responsible for system specification & design, liaison with class, project management,installation & commissioning.
